VATNAJOKULL - ‘ALPHA’ - COLDHOUSE

In April 2023, Ed Jackson, Niall McCann & Darren Edwards, successfully crossed Vatnajokull ice cap in Iceland. All with various level of spinal injury, this was a world first expedition where an all adaptive team crossed the ice cap unsupported. A Millimetres 2 Mountains expedition supported by Berghaus, the expedition would be documented by a small Coldhouse Collective team who would follow and document the expedition team across the ice, not only pulling all their personal and camping gear, but also all the production equipment needed for an almost two week crossing.

I was brought onto the Coldhouse team for this expedition as data wrangler, behind the scenes content and expedition and production assistant. This involved helping set up and break camp each day, building ice block walls protecting us from wind, cleaning camera equipment as well as managing data wrangling and charging equipment every evening.

The documentary of the expedition titled ‘Alpha’, produced by Coldhouse, is due for release later on this year.
